6/30/2023 0 Comments Red rumped parrot for saleI know i obviously shouldn't think about buying either of these. But they don't even actually know the birds' age, or if they are proven (they didn't know what proven meant!). The same store(which i despise and would normally never go there) now has a pair of parrotlets also. That is why i was even considering this pair, because there are so few opportunities to even find breeders. I have worked in the bird and pet industry for over 10 years, and i love matching pet and owners. I have found a lack of choices for beginners, and families in my area, people are unable to find the perfect match for them. I have bred and hand raised ringnecks, sun conures, English budgies, Senegals, GCCs, tiels, lovebirds, splendid keets, rosey Bourkes, quakers, and Amazons at my former job. ![]() Id like to breed parrotlets or some other small, family friendly bird that's not a budgie, tiel, or lovie(we have them at least). I live in North Dakota, and we have very limited options when it comes to birds. I don't know why that link says north carolina, it's for new york, but I also noticed in your info it says North Dakota. It's something you have to REALLY want to do, if it's something you will get enjoyment out of and you are confident you can find homes for the babies, then go for it Once you factor in food, bedding, toys, vet care, cleaning supplies, hand feeding formula, syringes, scales, all that good stuff, it's hard to even break even with only a few pairs. I'm sure I won't be the only one to say this but, if you want to breed to make money you should probably just quit while you're ahead lol. I noticed this add on the PA hoobly page as well hand-fed mutation red rumps - cinnamon! in Spring Church, Pennsylvania I also noticed she sells linnies for only $50 though! That's really cheap IMO. The first one says she sells them for $150 to $300 depending on color. DNA testing may add an additional 3-6 plus weeks to estimated delivery time to allow for gender results. Here are some other breeders of RRP in your area, Bird Breeders in North Carolina NC - Avian Directory of Available Birds and Bird Breeders ![]() DNA testing is an additional $149 per bird to guarantee preferred gender. If there is no gender option listed for a bird on our website, that particular species is ‘monomorphic’, which means we’re unable to determine gender without purchasing DNA testing. ![]() not leave their nest. The eggs will hatch in about 30 days.ĭiet: Goldfinch Seed, seeds of grasses and herbaceous plants, flowers, fruits, blossoms Females will protect their eggs devotedly and will seldom leave their nests. Temperament: Red-rumped Parrots are easy to keep, however they are aggressive to the same species, so it’s best to keep them as a pair in one aviary.īreeding: Red-rumped Parrots can be easily bred in captivity. Sexing: Red-rumped Parrots are easily sexed ![]() Size / Weight: 11 inches in length and weighs about 0.15 pounds Song / Call: Click here to listen to Red-rumped Parrots Red Rump Parakeets can tolerate low temperatures of 40 degrees if naturally acclimatized to it over a period of time but if they are suddenly removed for warmer temps and placed into cold climate they can become ill. They can be housed in breeding cages or aviaries. The female’s plumage is much duller – dull-green wings, pale olive under-parts, blue-black on the wings. The Red-rumped Parrot is an ideal bird for the beginner, there is no experience needed and the noise level is low. In this parrot species, only the males are vividly colored – emerald-green plumage, yellow under-parts, blue highlights on the wings. The Red-rumped Parrot, Psephotus haematonotus, also known as Grass Parakeet or Grassie, are slim and elegant birds for sale and owe their name to the bright red rump that males have on their back.
